Who's the real mum?

My current project is a series of interviews on people's experience of legislation that discriminates against gays and lesbians (I know I'm meant to write glbti there but I'm a bit unreconstructed and can't do that without feeling silly). It's part of a campaign that will include sending them to Queensland MPs, and I know our honourable elected representatives will see them and think, 'why yes! I really must change those archaic laws!'

Here's the first.

You are awesome. The video is awesome. What a great project. Can't wait to see more. We should do something similar in the the US.

Not to quibble, but you'd probably find that she could take them to hospital or a doctor (especially if they share her surname) and likewise with schools. But I don't want to downplay the discrimination, just in practice many institutions and people are friendly.

in qld suze i need a 'blue card' to authorise me to enter the school to do tuck shop for example. and yes people including our gp have been friendly. what happens though when i run into an unfriendly one? relying on the kindness of strangers is not really good enough. i do take your point though that in practice i am supported in day to day interactions. it's really only a big deal in the legislation, not in community attitudes. we have have some legislative catch up to do in qld!

These are fantastic! And I do think grass roots approaches in campaigns, like this, speak loudly to politicians. Good luck.
